Finished weaving

I love, love weaving!! Oh wait did I already say that?? Yea LOVE it. With this weaving the edges had some issues and I wish I had added the burgundy silk in more of a pattern but other than that I am in love with it. Actually warping a loom wouldn't be all that bad now that I know what the steps are. The first time warping it seemed like every time I felt like I accomplished something there was another step to do that was even more time consuming than the last. Now I know all the steps though so it will seem less freaky lol.The weft threads are all 100% silk handspun by me with crystal beads also spun into the yarn. The warp threads are cotton.

12 hours of art

The Art Dept. hosted 12 hours of art on Friday from 6pm to 6am it was a blast. The energy was great,food was amazing, and it was a blast to see what other people were working on. So much fun, can't wait for the next one.

Weaving :)

Ok not only do I love weaving, I now really want a loom lol. It's such a manic process but meditative at the same time. Once I started this weaving I didn't want to stop.

Warping the loom

I've been working on getting this loom warped from start to where I am, for about 6 hours now. I have no idea at this point why anyone would ever want to weave on a loom lol. I'm hoping that once I get it all set up I REALLY like the process. We shall see...

Quilt

This a the quilt I'm making for fibers class. It's 20  inches by 16 inches and I am doing all of the quilting by hand. Yea I'm a little batty, but I have a very old cheap sewing machine and honestly I like hand quilting. Although I am starting to second guess my size choice as the end of the semester creeps closer. The first pic shows the border sewn on. The 2nd pic shows some of the quilting I am doing. Oh yea without a quilting hoop also, I have been carrying my nice big quilting hoop around for 10+ years and now is the time that I can't find it lol. I think it will be fine though with is being so small. I will update more when it is closer to being finished.
